At 91影视, Politics majors explore the ideas, institutions and conflicts that shape public life in the United States and around the world. Along the way, students become sharper readers, stronger writers and more confident communicators鈥攕kills that matter in graduate school, in public life and across a wide range of careers.
91影视鈥檚 Bachelor of Arts in Politics invites students to read influential texts, examine major traditions in political thought and study American politics and international politics in depth. The result is an education grounded in close reading, discussion and applied critical thinking.
As Georgia鈥檚 capital and a cultural center of the Southeast, Atlanta gives Politics students direct access to meaningful internships and civic engagement. 91影视 students have pursued opportunities with organizations and institutions including the Georgia State Legislature, the Carter Center, the ACLU, the Democratic Party of Georgia, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and the Israeli Consulate. Students may also deepen their experience through 91影视鈥檚 affiliation with the Washington Center for Internships and the Washington Semester Program at American University, connecting classroom learning with professional experience in Washington, D.C.

As Georgia鈥檚 capital and a cultural epicenter of the southeast, Atlanta is home to significant political activity 鈥 local, national, and international. Consulates for many countries are headquartered here. Students have access to major institutions like the Carter Center, the World Affairs Council of Atlanta, the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, and more.
- Georgia鈥檚 legislative and governor鈥檚 intern programs offer opportunities for politics students to get a personal glimpse of the inner workings of government.
- Students have interned with the Georgia State Legislature; the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism; the Carter Center; the ACLU; the Democratic Party of Georgia; the Israeli Consulate; the Michelle Nunn campaign; the office of State Senator Devin Barber; the National Center for Civil and Human Rights; the League of Woman Voters; and even the DEA and the FBI.
- 91影视 is also affiliated with the Washington Center for Internships and the Washington Semester Program at American University. Through this partnership, 91影视 students have the opportunity to study politics and complete internships in our nation鈥檚 capital, Washington, DC.
A degree in politics is ideal preparation for careers in many fields: business, education, journalism, government, nonprofit organizations, and law. Or, the political field itself, whether that means running for office, working as a staffer or campaign manager, crafting political messaging, or covering the field as a journalist.
- With a serious list of career credentials, our alumni include a staff attorney at the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights; a judge who sits on the Georgia Court of Appeals; a Georgia State Representative; District Counsel for the U.S. Small Business Administration; Chief Assistant Attorney for the Public Defender鈥檚 Office; and a number of partners and practicing attorneys at high-profile law firms across the country.
